Editorial
August 5, 2008Dear friends and colleagues of Streamezzo,
Welcome to the latest edition of NewsStream. We hope the first half of 2008 has been a successful and prosperous time for you personally and professionally. As many of us prepare for a well-deserved summer holiday, we thought we would reflect on our progress thus far in 2008 at Streamezzo.
We kicked off 2008 with a quick trip to the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas where we presented our vision for the future of Mobile TV.
Our key message? Mobile TV must be much more than simply redirecting existing made-for-TV broadcast content onto mobile phones. Users will not pay to watch a TV show on a tiny screen when they can essentially watch it for free on a huge screen in their home. This new medium requires new business models, new and unique content, interactivity, relevant advertising and integration with other mobile services in order to create true value. Our deep expertise and our award-winning technology have proven that these are the keys to successfully driving user adoption.
Next we made a stop at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona - the world’s largest gathering to learn about what’s new and hot in mobile communications. We used MWC as the venue to unveil our Universal Software Platform™ to the world, and we announced general availability of our Workbench SDK open development platform. Today, 6 months later, while Android is still on the drawing board while Streamezzo has been busy deploying cross-platform, rich media mobile services for over 2 years. We have continued to expand our customer ranks in 2008 with the addition of companies like Telstra and Neuf Cegetel, and we are proud to say that some of the world’s largest brands and mobile operators are using Streamezzo technology to deliver compelling interactive rich media mobile services.
The industry has continued to recognize our pioneering achievements with praise and accolades. In April we were honored by Red Herring as one of the top 100 private technology companies in Europe, and two months later TMC, one of the leading technology authorities in the U.S., named our Universal Software Platform the Product of the Year for 2007. Both awards are a testament to the hard work and ingenuity of our entire team at Streamezzo.
In July we released the first four applications in our Skinnable Application Suite™ to the mobile development community. While there are many more to come, these initial applications offer developers around the world a foundation upon which they can quickly develop compelling mobile service offerings that overcome industry fragmentation and run flawlessly on over 250 mobile devices. You can expect more exciting news regarding our Skinnable Application Suite this Fall.
Earlier this year we launched our online NewsBlog at http://newsstream.streamezzo.com/. To stay up-to-date with the latest news and information from Streamezzo, we encourage you to visit us there and subscribe to our RSS feed, which is compatible with all major RSS readers, such as: Google, MyYahoo, Netvibes, Newsgator, and more.
These are just a few highlights or our achievements to-date in 2008, with many more to come in the months ahead. We sincerely appreciate your continued support of Streamezzo’s technology and our vision for the future of mobile communications, and please look for our next news update in September.
Best Regards,
Pierre-Emmanuel Struyven
