Emmanuel Christophidis has spent the past eleven years working in the telecommunications industry, starting his career as one of the key engineers to Launch WAP and mobile location based applications at Telstra in Melbourne, Australia. He was later appointed as the Engineering manager responsible for launching Telstra’s first MMS system. After gaining six years of experience within a telecommunications company, he made the move into the vendor world, taking up a position as Sales Engineer with Openwave, predominantly based in Auckland, New Zealand.
During his four years at Openwave, Emmanuel fulfilled a variety of roles and was working with account teams across the South Asia region, ensuring technical and product support. Today Emmanuel hold the position of APAC General Manager for Streamezzo.

Shailendra Pandey is a senior analyst and covers Mobile Content & Applications within Informa Telecoms & Media’s Industry Research division. Rich Media et iPhone, la bataille des géants

Steve Jobs dit ne pas vouloir embarquer Flash sur l’iPhone. C’est assez étrange d’autant que le flash est largement répandu sur le web et que Safari Mobile est l’un des meilleurs navigateur en mobilité. Bref, Cela cache probablement quelque chose, mais quoi ?

Regardons un peu le marché. Flash domine largement le marché web mais peine à s’imposer sur le mobile. Un certain nombre de technologies concurrentes sont apparues.
Depuis peu, Microsoft a sorti l’artillerie lourde nommée Silverlight. Le but clairement avoué est de remplacer le duo Flash / Flex. Silverlight est déjà disposible sur la plateforme Symbian 9 S60. Une version Nokia S40 et Nokia S80 devraient arriver bientôt. Sur la plateforme Nokia, nous trouvons Bluestreak Tech très actif sur les services de télévision mobile pour Orange. Un autre outsider est le français Streamezzo qui déploie une technologie Rich Media sur un large panel de mobiles (ils supportent iPhone, Symbian, WM, Java, …). Ils ont d’ailleurs profité du dernier Mobile World Congress (alias 3GSM) à Barcelone pour démontrer le fonctionnement de leur moteur Rich Media sur l’iPhone

Microsoft envisagerait de porter la technologie Silverlight sur iPhone. Il y a fort à parier que Adobe se tienne malgré les déclarations contraires de Steve Jobs. Il reste entre eux les petits poucets du Rich Media pour arbitrer et leur ravir la vedette ….

Streamezzo to power Samsung Rich Internet Portal

Mobile software developer Streamezzo announced an agreement to develop, deploy and operate mobile web portal services for handset maker Samsung Electronics. The Samsung Rich Internet application, embedded on multiple Samsung devices, promises subscribers access to free and premium mobile services including news, ringtones, music, video-on-demand and games. Streamezzo’s Mobile Open Development Platform, certified across hundreds of handsets and compatible with all mobile operating systems, will power the creation of new Rich Internet applications. Samsung has so far released the Rich Internet Portal in Russia, Germany and the U.K., with other international rollouts planned for the months ahead.

Groove: Streamezzo new software release

This new rich media software release includes instant script, smart touch screen support and other major innovations

Streamezzo, the leading rich media software publisher for mobile developers, unveils the latest version of its software suite: Groove.

Groove included the three main components of the suite -the Rich Media Server, the Rich Media Client and the Workbench (the Rich Media application development environment) – enhanced with two major innovations among the others : the instant script and the touch screen support features.

The Instant Script lets applications to run even in offline mode. With this feature Streamezzo is now able to propose the well known and mature client-server architecture including real client side offline capabilities. Mix the best of a local application experience with the best of browsing architecture! Applications developers keep the flexibility and the portability guaranteed by our client-server architecture and can enhanced user experience with local and offline behaviors.
